Question
After logging into Spotlight, how do I add Analytical assets?
Solution
Currently Spotlight supports the following Assets types:
- Workspaces
- Connections
- Datasets
- Documents
Workspaces are the central project area, where an owner/collaborators can add other Asset types and presents all the information about a given set of related data. Connections represent representing the sources of data in Spotlight. These are your external databases, Datameer workbooks, and each user's file uploads that are turned into a dataset. Workspaces and Connections are primarily about collecting and organizing the main analytic assets: Datasets and Documents.
To add any of these assets to Spotlight, follow the instructions below
Login to Spotlight and click on the button. A dialog window will list all the Asset types you can add. Select Dataset or Documents and follow the instructions for it in the matching section below.
Datasets
Spotlight supports Datasets from the following Data Sources. Click on the system where your data lives and enter the credentials to add the dataset into Spotlight.
Documents
Documents are non-data assets created from a file. This includes PDF, DOC, image files, and everything other than CSV, XLS, JSON, Parquet, and XLS/XLSX/XLSB files.
In order to add Documents into Spotlight, click on Documents asset type and add a file or folder into Spotlight
