Datameer not starting. Failed to obtain initial volume values: License Invalid... DatameerShutdownHook.java:19 - Received Shutdown Signal

I installed datameer with Hortonworks 2.3. When I start datameer, no services are coming up. In conductor.log I see last few messages saying

---

Housekeeping is not running because there is no valid license installed.
Failed to obtain initial volume values: License Invalid:There is no license certificate installed for das-conductor.
And then the last message says
DatameerShutdownHook.java:19 - Received Shutdown Signal

  Hello! Thanks for brining your concerns to the community!

  This error seems to be consistent with a change of ownership within the Datameer installation path.

  Has Datameer started in the past?
  Did you create a service account to manage the Datameer process?
  
  Given a service account, was Datameer recently started by an alternate user such as root?

  No the install dir is owned by the service account. I did try to start it as root once.

  try delete the old logs and restart using app owner
