Thunderbird would be a fine example. It would use an SMTP connection to send outbound emails from the different hosts. Does Thunderbird function successfully with the Office 365 SMTP settings?

Thank you Jesus. Could you check in the <INSTALLDIR>/logs/conductor.log file for the full stack trace when the error occurs? I wonder if there is more detail to the error that is just not displayed...
